Oracle Database Engineer And Architect

Brief SynopsisSBC Innovations is seeking talent for a broadly experienced Oracle Database Engineer And Architect to join its team. This individual will play a critical role to oversee our Relational Database Service (RDS) environment on AWS.


  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including database configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides.
  • Architect highly available and fault-tolerant database solutions on AWS.
  • Optimize database performance and scalability for cloud-based environments.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior DBAs and developers.
  • Design, deploy, and manage Oracle database instances on AWS RDS including patching, upgrades and migration.
  • Design and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for Oracle databases on RDS, utilizing features such as multi-AZ deployments and Read Replicas.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Automate database provisioning, backup, and monitoring tasks using AWS tools and scripting languages.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies for performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of RDS databases with applications.
  • Stay updated on AWS RDS features, enhancements, and best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10 plus years of extensive experience in Oracle database administration, with a focus on cloud-based environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS Oracle, including deployment, configuration, and management.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL scripting for database administration and development tasks.
  • Experience with database security best practices, including encryption, authentication, and auditing.
  • Participate in capacity planning and cost optimization efforts for RDS infrastructure.
  • Excellent knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge sharing and best practices with team members through training sessions, presentations, and documentation reviews.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Period of Performance – Remote, with occasional in office as needed by client

Security Requirements:

  • All personnel, including the support required by this initiative, must be United States Citizens and
    must meet the DOJ (Department of Justice) Residency Requirement.
  • The minimum investigation required is to be cleared for a US Government Security Eligible Public
    Trust
    clearance.
  • Eligible to receive a Top-Secret Clearance
